¿Quién debe registrarse en Alemania?
Cada persona extranjera que planea quedarse en Alemania por más de 3 meses necesita registrar su nuevo domicilio ante las autoridades Alemanas en la oficina de ciudadanía (Bürgeramt). Una vez que encuentres alojamiento permanente (no un hotel) tienes dos semanas para registrar la dirección de tu domicilio en la Oficina de Registro de tu localidad.
¿Cómo registrarse?
1. Para registrarte necesitas rellenar el formulario de registro. Este formulario solamente esta disponible en alemán, pero no te preocupes ¡lo hemos traducido al Español! Solamente rellena tus datos y nuestro sistema automáticamente transferirá la información en el formulario alemán.
2. Este proceso requiere un pago. Después de realizar el pago con Paypal o tarjeta de crédito, te enviaremos inmediatamente el formulario de registro (Anmeldeformular) y el formulario de confirmación del casero (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
3. Imprime ambos formularios. Asegúrate de que tu casero firme el formulario ‘Confirmación del Casero’.
4. Lleva los dos formularios a la oficina de registro, además trae tu pasaporte, tu contrato de alquiler, tu visa ( si es que cuentas con una). Lleva tu certificado de matrimonio y los certificados de nacimiento de tus hijos, si es que tu esposo(a) y tus hijos viven contigo en Alemania. Toma en cuenta que en algunas ciudades se requiere reservar una cita previamente.

5. Si es que has llevado todos los documentos necesarios, inmediatamente recibirás la confirmación de tu registro (Anmeldebescheinigung) en la oficina de registro. Es muy importante que guardes bien este documento. Lo necesitarás más adelante si es que quieres abrir una cuenta bancaria o firmar algún otro contrato.

¿Cómo volver a registrarse (Ummelden)?
Ya estas registrado en Alemania. Pero has decidido mudarte a otro lugar. Entonces lo que tienes que hacer es Ummelden (significa ‘volver a registrarte’).
1. ¿Qué es lo que necesito hacer cuando me mudo a otro lugar?
Cuando te mudas a otro lugar dentro de Alemania, tienes que repetir el mismo proceso de registro. En otras palabras ummelden significa volver a repetir los pasos de registro de domicilio solo que con una dirección diferente. Significa que tienes que llenar el formulario de registro, imprimirlo y llevarlo al ‘Bürgeramt’ más cercano (oficina de ciudadanía). This means you fill in the registration form. Then you print the registration form and the landlord confirmation form. Take them to the nearest Burgeramt (registration office).
2. No olvides hacer una lista de las direcciones para el Ummeldung
Cuando llenes el formulario de registro asegúrate de enlistar todas tus direcciones anteriores en la página 2 del formulario de registro (‘dirección antigua’). De esta manera se cancelara el registro de tus antiguas direcciones automáticamente y serán reemplazadas por una nueva.
He cometido un error en el Formulario. ¿Necesito llenarlo otra vez?
No hay necesidad de llenar el formulario de registro otra vez, si es que es un pequeño error. Por ejemplo, si has escrito mal código postal, o la fecha de nacimiento. En este caso, solo debes tachar la información incorrecta con tu lapicero. Luego escribes la información correcta claramente al lado. Algún funcionario del Burgeramt leerá este formulario, así que si algo no esta claro el o ella lo aclarará contigo.
El espacio es pequeño. El texto se superpone en mi formulario. ¿Qué debo hacer?
Puede pasar que el texto que escribes en algunos espacios es demasiado largo, así que se superpone con los otros espacios. Esto puedes pasar, por ejemplo, porque el nombre de la calle es demasiado largo. Si es que este es el caso, entonces haz lo siguiente: Tacha lo que no se puede leer y escribe en la parte baja del formulario la información con un lapicero.
El formulario de registro es leído por una persona en el Burgeramt, no por una computadora. Por esta razón, esta bien si se escribe con lapicero en el formulario. También esta bien, si es que tu información es más larga que el espacio asignado en el formulario. Si es que algo no esta claro, el oficial del Burgeramt te lo hará saber.
¿Qué más debo saber sobre el registro?
A menos que quieras pagar impuestos a la Iglesia (hasta 9% del impuesto de tus ingresos), deja el espacio relacionado con «Religión» en blanco. Además, ten en cuenta que la información proporcionada en el formulario de registro será compartida con partidos políticos y la licencia para el uso de radio y televisión (GEZ). Si es que quieres que tu información no sea compartida con terceros, necesitarás llenar otro formulario llamado ‘Übermittlungsperre’.
Necesito el ‘Formulario de confirmación del casero’ (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung)?
Sí, sin la confirmación de tu casero no puedes registrarte en Alemania. En alemán, la confirmación del casero hace referencia a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, Vermieterbescheinigung or Einzugsbestätigung. Nosotros te enviaremos este formulario automáticamente, una vez que hayas llenado el formulario de registro en nuestra web. Con este formulario se confirma la fecha en la que te estas mudando al nuevo domicilio, cuarto o apartamento.
¿La información proporcionada en el registro afecta el monto de impuestos que tengo que pagar en Alemania?
Sí. La información proporcionada en tu formulario de registro afecta el tipo de clase de impuestos (Steuerklasse) con el que se te clasificará, para ser más exactos el monto que tendrás que pagar. Siempre es mejor registrarse con todos los miembros de familia al mismo tiempo esposa/esposo/ pareja de unión civil y hijos si es que vivirán contigo en la misma casa en Alemania; Lleva a tu cita el certificado de matrimonio y los certificados de nacimiento de tus hijos. Esto asegurará que se te proporcione la clase de impuestos correcta; puede que también te ahorres dinero ya que la gente casada paga menos impuestos.
Who must register in Germany?
If you work, study or stay in Germany for more than three months, you need to register your address at a local registration office (Bürgeramt). You need to register, or at least arrange an appointment at the registration office, within two weeks of moving into your residence in Germany. You can only register if you have a rental contract.
You do not need to register if you are a tourist staying at a hostel or hotel.
How do I register in Germany?
1. To register you need to fill in the registration form. The form only exists in German. All you need to do is fill out the form in English on this website. Our system will automatically transfer your data onto the original German registration form.
2. This process requires a one-off payment. After payment with Paypal or credit card, we will immediately send you the registration form (Anmeldeformular) and the landlord confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung).
3. Print both forms. Make sure that your landlord signs the landlord confirmation.
4. Make an appointment at the registration office, or drop in and draw a waiting number. Read the next point «Where to register» for more information.
5. Take both forms to the local registration office, together with your passport, your rental contract and your visa, if you have one. Bring your marriage certificate and children’s birth certificates, if you register together with them.

7. At the registration office, a German official will check all your document and give you the registration confirmation (Meldebescheinigung). It is very important you check it for spelling mistakes. After that make sure to keep this document in a safe place. You need the confirmation to sign contracts in Germany.

I am moving to a new address in Germany. Do I need to register again (ummelden)?
If you move to another place within Germany, you simply have to register again. To process of ‘registering again’ is called ummelden in German.
Am I automatically deregistered from my old address if I register again in Germany?
When you fill out the registration form, make sure that you list your old address in Germany on the registration form (‘old address’). This way your previously registered address will be automatically deregistered and replaced by the new one. If you want to keep the old address as a second residence, you can indicate this on the registration form.

Unless you want to pay church tax (up to 9% of your income tax), leave the box for ‘Religion’ blank.
Do I need the landlord confirmation to register in Germany?
Yes, without the landlord confirmation you cannot register in Germany. In German, the landlord confirmation is also referred to as Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, Vermieterbescheinigung or Einzugsbestätigung. On the form, your landlord or rental agency confirms that you have moved into the residence, room or flat.
Sharing of Information
Furthermore, be aware that the information you submit in the registration form will be shared with political parties and the TV license organisation (GEZ). If you want prevent your information to be shared with third parties, you need to complete a form called Übermittlungsperre.
Does registration affect how much income tax I have to pay in Germany?
Yes, it does. The information you give on the registration form affects your Steuerklasse, meaning how much income tax you pay. If you indicate that you are married and your partner lives with you in Germany, then you should both register together and bring your marriage certificate; married couples pay less income tax in Germany.
I’ve made a mistake on the registration form. Do I need to fill it out again?
There is no need to fill in the registration form again, if you have made a small mistake. For example, if you have written down a wrong postal code, or a wrong date of birth. In this case you just cross out the wrong data with a pen. Then you clearly write down the correct data next to it. Someone from the Burgeramt will read the form, so if anything is unclear he or she will clarify the data with you.
The field is too short. The text overlaps on my form. What do I do now?
It can happen that the text you provide in some of the fields is too long, so that it overlaps into the next field. This may happen because, for example, your street name is extremely long. If this is the case, then do the following: Cross out whatever is non-readable and write down the correct data on the form with a pen.
The registration form is read by a person in the Burgeramt, not by a computer. For this reason, it’s absolutely fine to write on the form with a pen. It’s also fine, if your data is a bit longer than a field. If anything is unclear, the official at the Burgeramt will let you know.
